| As reported in the last issue of
Fire Protection Comments, Grinnell has been discovered to have an
alarmingly inadequate safety program for its employees and members of the
public.
When OSHA inspected a Grinnel Fire Protection job site
in Dallas, Texas, the employee safety monitoring agency discovered that
Grinnell did little to protect its employees from safety hazards.
In fact, a "safety narrative" provided by OSHA
of an assessment of Grinnell’s construction industry safety practices is
alarming.
Grinnell had no written safety program—in fact, it had
no accident prevention program, written or otherwise, according to OSHA.
OSHA rated Grinnell "inadequate" in the
following areas: communication of safety issues to its employees;
enforcement of safety provisions; establishment of a safety training
program; establish of a health training program; an in taking preventative
action to prevent industrial injuries or illness.
No wonder OSHA has found so many safety violations at
Grinnell or Tyco Co. plants throughout the United States. Below is a
