IMPERIAL HEATING & COOLING,
INC. V WILLIAM R. DAVIDSON, STEINGASS MECHANICAL CONTRACTING, ET AL.
In December 1999, Steingass sued Gill & Associates, Inc., William R.
Davidson, Charter One Bank, F.S.B., Imperial Heating & Cooling, Inc. and
John Donofrio for money damages on account and for foreclosure on mechanic's
lien. Steingass had a job in Summit County, Ohio. They claimed that Gill &
Associates, Inc. still owed them $28,974. Steingass wanted more. On July 2,
1999, Steingass filed a lien against the owner’s property. Steingass also
sued the owner, his agent, the bank that held the note, another contractor
and even the Summit County treasurer over this matter. Steingass finally
ended up as one of the defendants in a cross-complaint over the matter
according to the old complaint. (Case#RV-99-12-5075 & 5126)

OHIO PIPE VALVES & FITTINGS,
INC. V STEINGASS MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS, INC.
This is one of several cases indicating that Steingass Mechanical as a
business and its owner personally, have had problems paying their debts on
time. In this case Ohio Pipe provided over $11,000 in supplies to Steingass,
but was never paid. Since William Steingass had to personally guarantee
payment, he was sued personally. (Case #95 COV 0270)
STEINGASS MECHANICAL
CONTRACTORS, INC., ET AL V MEDINA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Medina County had its fill of Steingass. Steingass had wage violations
and missed construction deadlines on the County’s Achievement Center job.
The County rejected Steingass’ bids for a County Jail job because Steingass
was not a responsible contractor. Rather than clean up their act Steingass
sued the County, their own potential customer. But both the trial court and
the appeals court upheld the County’s decision.
The Courts found that the County was entitled to consider whether to hire
Steingass since Steingass was a company that people found very difficult to
work with, and whom had been involved in specific problems on the last
County job. The County’s investigation found that state and federal law
enforcement agents did not think highly of Steingass’ operation. (Appeal #95
CA 2424M)
THE K & M CONSTRUCTION CO. V
STEINGASS MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS, INC., WILLIAM P. STEINGASS
K & M supplied over $10,000 in materials and labor to Steingass. Not

(Case #94 CIV 0608)

EVERGREEN CARE CENTER, INC.
V STEINGASS MECHANICAL CONTRACTING, INC., ET AL.
Evergreen Care Center, located in Medina County, Ohio, sued Steingass and
others charging that the water system installed by Steingass "... is
incapable of producing and delivering hot water at required temperatures and
Plaintiff has and will continue to incur the expense of reengineering,
repairing, removing and replacing the Water System."
The complaint continued, "...damages were directly and proximately caused
by a breach by Defendant Steingass of its agreement to design, supply and
install the Water System." "Steingass was grossly negligent and knowingly
and intentionally disregarded the plans and specifications [of] the Water
System." Evergreen sought almost $1 million in damages and won a judgement
in this case. (Case #86 CIV 0320)
