Questions about March-Westin Company’s Safety Record
April 2001 – Two Serious OSHA Violations & $3,750 Fine Proposed against March-Westin

In April 2001, OSHA inspected a March-Westin job site at 1416 Kanawha Boulevard in Charleston, West Virginia. OSHA found a March-Westin employee working on a 29-foot tall roof, without any fall protection. A fall from that height could have crippled or killed the worker. In addition, although the worker was tossing trash into a dumpster, there was no trash chute. That endangered any workers on the ground.

Over the last several years, OSHA has proposed nearly fifty citations, and over $30,000 in fines against March-Westin Company for safety and health violations.

Other inspections of March-Westin sites have also found multiple serious OSHA violations. At a job site in Parsons, West Virginia, OSHA found four serious violations of regulations governing propane handling, tripping hazards, and foot protection. OSHA proposed a $2,100 fine against March-Westin.

An inspection of March-Weston’s work at North Marion High School in Farmington, West Virginia revealed violations of diesel fuel storage rules, fall protection rules, and electrical regulations.
