Employees Distracted By Personal Problems and Garnishments Are Dangerous On The Job Site

One sure sign that a company is not paying enough for salary and benefits to hire qualified people is when courts are asked to step in to make sure a company’s employees are paying their taxes and child support.

Employees at Mechanical Systems of Dayton, Ohio have been the subject of garnishment actions sought in Ohio courtrooms.

Employees who are being chased by the courts to meet their obligations are not likely to be as focused on their work. And when that work is dangerous, or if the project is sensitive, it is even more important that employees leave their personal problems at home and pay attention to their work.

Any accident on your work site is a lawsuit waiting to be filed. Accidents and stress-related absences can also slow down the job.

Sometimes, however, it is very difficult for employees to separate their personal problems and their employment. Especially when the company gets named in the same lawsuit as an employee stemming from that employee’s personal problems.

In one ugly case, an Ohio woman filed for divorce. Her husband, an employee of Mechanical Systems of Dayton, Ohio, was grossly negligent in his duty as a husband and had engaged in extreme cruelty, according to her court complaint.

In seeking custody of the couple’s children, the woman also demanded that the court force Mechanical Systems of Dayton, Ohio to take support payments directly out of her ex-husband’s check. In an effort to force compliance by the company and avoid any objections by the ex-husband, Mechanical Systems of Dayton, Ohio was named as a defendant along with the husband in the lawsuit.

The Contractor’s Critic recommends that companies whose employees have their personal lives in order should be given greater consideration over companies whose employees have a history of their personal problems interfering with the work performance.
