Electric has a long history of expansion problems
| | | |
Since its start up in
1946, Berg Electric has cornered a substantial share of the Southern
California electrical construction market. Their clients have included
Nordstrom’s, Scripps, Mervyn’s, Regal Cinemas, Pacific Bell, and scores of
other businesses. Their annual sales are approaching $150 million. Berg
Electric, also known as BergElectric, has hundreds of employees and has
recently branched out into Nevada, Oregon and Washington.

Along with Berg’s rapid growth, Berg has experienced growing
problems. Several of its contracts in recent years have deteriorated into
scorched-earth litigation. Clients and employees have sued Berg. Berg has
filed liens and has sued its own customers.
On at least seven occasions, injured Berg employees and third parties have
alleged that they were injured because of Berg’s negligence and in turn have
filed court suits. In one case the injured Berg employee collected a
settlement of $650,000.
