COMPLAINTS ABOUT Bay
Harbour Electric’S POOR WORK QUALITY
| The Critic has obtained
information from some of Bay Harbour Electric’s former customers, complaining
about the company’s poor workmanship. Maybe it was Bay Harbour Electric’s use of
unskilled, temporary workers that resulted in these complaints. The manager of
a store at the Millcreek Mall in Erie, PA Susan Cenfetelli was one complainant.
She stated that, (Bay Harbour Electric) "...were neither a professional company
or knew what they were doing. ...various work such as circuit breakers and light
fixtures that were installed or repaired do not work. I feel that this is do to
the incompetence of those working for Bay Harbour. Personally, Bay Harbour, Jeff
Anthony or any contracting firm associated with the above will never perform
services in my store..." She continued, " I will never recommend them to anyone
who needs electrical work performed."
The DuBois Area School District found many problems with Bay Harbour
Electric’s work, according to published accounts. Of $87,000 that was owed to
Bay Harbour Electric, the school district considered almost $84,000 to represent
retainage, according to a district memo. The District Clerk of Works in a letter
wrote this about Bay Harbour Electric’s work, "From the period of ‘substantial
completion’ at the beginning of school, through the contractor’s actual
‘finish’, school occupants have been plagued with light bulbs or ballast
burnt-out, receptacles not operating, and work omitted or incomplete; five
months have lapsed." He continued, Bay Harbour promised that they would
"correct these items room-by-room. Now it seems that in their haste to complete,
these corrections have been left for the punch list."

WHO IS ACTUALLY
WORKING ON THE JOB FOR Bay Harbour Electric?
| Bay Harbour Electric
often touts its highly trained employees. The fact is that Bay Harbour Electric
often supplements its own workers with whatever warm bodies it can obtain from a
"temp" agency. An Administrative Law Judge’s decision stated that: "...when Bay
Harbour Electric does not have enough permanent staff to man a job, ... it uses
temporary employees. One source of temporary employees is "Construction Labor
Contractors (CLC)." Apparently Bay Harbour Electric desired to conceal the use
of temporary workers from its customers and others. One CLC testified that he
was told "to keep his mouth shut about who he worked for," while he was temping
for Bay Harbour Electric on the Lake Erie Prison job. | | | | | | |
